We have a new baby!!

I'm in love! A sweet new addition to our family arrived at 4:44pm on Monday, April 11th.
Wyatt Courage Johnson
7lb 10 oz
19 3/4" long
We are so thrilled to welcome him into our home. Praise the Lord!! So thankful for a short labor and fast delivery. He came out with his hand above his head and the cord wrapped around his neck twice! Crazy little guy. :-)

The labor story goes ... I've had contracations on and off for weeks, but nothing regular. Finally on Sunday night I had a few in a row. Went to bed and woke up off and on with "some" contractions. It wasn't until morning that they began to pick up a pattern. They got intense quickly, which is not a usual pattern for me, so I decided to call the midwife and find out where we were at. By 1:00pm, when she arrived, I was at 4/12 cm. Baby was still high up and I had a good 6 hours ahead of me, by my usual rate. She left and I'd call her back when I felt like things were getting a little further. I called only 3 hours later as I'd had an urge to push and she arrived back at 4:30. Praise the Lord - although I've never had such intense contractions before. Wyatt was born at 4:44.

More of the story unravels as again the Lord's hand is in it all. We are thankful that Wyatt stayed "high" as the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck twice, once quite tight. Our midwife said that there were "lots of definite signs of divine intervention" -- which is our Lord Jesus at work! Praise the Lord! May He be glorified over and over.

Super long fingers, fingernails, and toes

Dr. Jacqueline Hahn - she reminds me of Aunt Barbara, but we've all decided she's almost exactly like Valerie!  Mannerisms, medical ways, facial features. :-)

Wyatt is totally darling and looks like a little Hawaiian. His skin is dark and he has lots of beautiful dark hair. Our first day was a little rough as he had swallowed lots of fluid and had some troubles with coughing things up. He gave us a scare twice - trouble breathing. His tummy was giving him trouble for a while. But he is doing just GREAT now. He eats well, his color is great, and he's calmed down and his tummy has relaxed.

We are all enjoying him and the boys take turns holding their new baby brother. Dwight is thrilled that he was born on the 11th. Grandpa Ted and Grandma Gail are taking good care of us all (thank you!). We are all doing well. Thank you for all your prayers and love.

Wyatt's photo shoot this morning ... wearing an outfit from Grams.  He's only 1 day old, but he looks quite mature already. :-)

  4. Oh, what fun: a bouquet of wonderful, sweet photos! I am praising and thanking our Father God for granting our request for a shorter labor and a short time of pushing. How beautiful to experience his hand of protection in having Wyatt stay high until he was ready to come out so that the cord didn't choke him! Hallelujah!

Derrick, Naomi and I were looking at these pictures together and we commented that Wyatt already looked almost as old as Kendrick! Also, we are enjoying the dark hair--and more than usual for one of yours! It looked as if you combed it in one of the pictures. :)

It seems strange not to be with you and to be able to hold your new little guy--our little guy. I am thankful that Ted and Gail can be there and experience him!

Looking forward to holding that little bundle of joy!

Be sure to keep the Aloha spirit, Marilee, resting and enjoying Wyatt.

    I love you all,

    Mama
